Alcoholic drinks should have ‘cancer risk’ warning

The US Surgeon General has recommended that alcoholic drinks contain a cancer warning label that is more visible, prominent and effective. In an interview, the Surgeon General Vivek Murthy made the following points:

There is a causal link between alcohol and 7 types of cancer
It’s the 3rd leading preventable cause after smoking and obesity
Responsible for 20k cancer deaths per year in the US

Why now? He called out a lack of awareness as shown in this chart.
