2. Recession or no recession?
Since 1984, US equities have tended to rally in the 6 months before the Fed cuts rates. What happens in the next 12 months then depends on the economy. On 5 occasions there has been no recession = c. 15% upside to stocks. On the 3 occasions there was a recession, stocks fell c.15%. What’s your view?

3. Not all heroes wear capes
Week one of the Olympics are almost over, and for the team at Firetrail, there have been many highlights and extraordinary performances. For us, Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec, competing in the air pistol mixed team event has stolen the show. Looking like he’d just strolled in from the pub around the corner, Dikec and his teammate Şevval İlayda Tarhan secured a silver medal in the event.
